I've owned boats all my life (usually "the party boat"), but this year I decided to buy myself a caravan and I "get it!'... why people love caravaning and why there is about 800,000 people travelling in caravans round Australia. What boaties and caravaner's have in common is the same sense of community and wanting to help each other out. That's one of the things I love about owning the Longreach Caravan Park now!.
What people say they like about the Longreach Caravan Park
We are a pet friendly caravan park and I loved hosting Croc from Darwin and his fur babies complete with "doggles". One of these dogs has travelled 60,000km with Croc!
Here's the story about some great folks that stayed in the Longreach Caravan Park, They lost their caravan door in Western Australia and had to improvise. Now with everyone signing their new door (including me!) they'll have some great memorabilia to take back home with them.
It was great to be able to host Jane and Geoff from the Flying Buskers whoa re travelling round in their caravan raising money for the Flying Doctors. It was great to be able to help a great cause and have a bit of fun as well!!
"Home for me was the Longreach Caravan Park!"
After every exhausting day, rising early and walking for hours and cramming and enjoying so many diverse tours, I was very happy to return to my home, Cabin No 2 at the Longreach Caravan Park. HOME.
The new owner Gavin would greet me wondering what I had got up to on that particular day. I felt like I wasn’t on my own and Gavin made me feel at home. I found him always working in the Park whether it be the grounds, the cabins or looking after his guests.
Gavin briefed new residents during check-in that at 4pm every afternoon we have a “meet up” with fellow residents in the recreational area and he would say, you never know you could find some life long friends at our sessions.
He started serving tea and coffee and biscuits for us all and that soon went out the window with people bringing their own beverages, mainly alcohol.
Everyone really enjoyed this opportunity to relax, chat and drink. Gavin would tell a story or two to break the ice. Good story teller.
Comments going around from the guests were No 1 the integrity and passion of Gavin and how much Gavin is just a nice man. I found him to be a gentleman. No 2 We all loved the meet-ups connecting us and having something to look forward to after our sightseeing adventures. No 3 it was a smaller park which means it’s more friendly.
I travelled on my own and these meet ups saved me at least once maybe a few times.
I travelled to Ilfracombe with two ladies, in the afternoon they were called back to Longreach. I stayed to complete my tour and was very lucky to recognise fellow residents of the Longreach Caravan Park and we acted like long lost friends. Of course they gave me a lift back home.
When I joined the Starlight Sunset Cruise tour, Outback Pioneers, Tina and Sophia from the Park joined too, so I had company and the bond was thick.
Yes the Longreach Caravan Park has recently been taken over by Gavin the new owner only in the last few months. It needed a lot of work and he has made improvements every day. Such a passionate man which is why I booked in the first place. I remember seeing a posted video on his site and proudly he said “I got to mow today”! Just demonstrating his passion and love for the park and for those who stay.
I went on line and researched a lot of accommodation in Longreach. I was disappointed. Some places showed uncleanliness etc and there were reports of no staff, which we can all understand.
However don’t sell accommodation if you can’t clean it.
So back to Gavin, I could see and feel his passion and he was relatable and definitely won me over. The cabins are older but slowly Gavin will be improving the look. The bed is so comfortable and it’s totally clean inside the cabin. Very safe, no bugs and quiet. Couldn’t hear my neighbours unless a car came in.
I really loved my experience here and have no hesitation in recommending Gavin and his Longreach Caravan Park!
